Il Cristo spirante di Anton Van Dyck è una delle opere più importanti della quadreria del Museo di Palazzo Reale di Genova, oltre ad essere unanimemente stimata dalla critica come l'unico autografo sicuro rispetto a una serie di varianti e repliche presenti a Genova e in numerose raccolte italiane. Dipinto dal celebre fiammingo al termine del proprio soggiorno nella penisola, mostra una stesura pittorica di straordinaria qualità e l'invenzione, derivata da Rubens, suo maestro, dello scorcio riservato alla croce e alla posa drammatica del Salvatore. Il catalogo di Sagep Editori, attraverso un saggio di Daniele Sanguineti, indaga la realizzazione dell'opera nell'ambito della produzione del pittore.
